Financial services company Aldermore has found that a large proportion of companies in the UK are struggling to find staff with the skills to meet their job roles.

With many of these roles potentially ‘fillable’ by contractors, the news will be pleasing for any contractor currently between roles and bearing a strong skill set of their own.

According to Aldermore’s SME Future Attitudes report, 43% of Britain’s SME owners have had difficulties recruiting the right people for their business.

London and the south-east is particularly hard hit, with 55% of SMEs struggling to fill role with suitable candidates.

17% of SMEs indicated that they were planning to recruit new staff, with the aim of boosting production and growing revenue.

Contractors by nature often build up strong, specific skill sets over time and via contracts. With such a skills gap evident, it seems inevitable those able to offer the skills required will be highly sought
