All our insurances can be purchased via our state of the art website or our highly experienced and friendly in house staff who are able to listen to your requirements and advise you on the most appropriates products and levels of cover.

Our products include:

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Professional Indemnity insurance - often referred to as PI - is one of the fundamental insurances for freelancers or contractors.

Our PI policy protects you and your business, should your client allege that you’ve made an error or omission in your services. This can include inadequate advice given, negligence or flawed designs. It also covers legal expenses when defending the claim, or any compensation needed to fix the problem.

Public (& Employers) Liability Insurance

Public Liability (PL) insurance covers the cost of a claim made by a client or a member of the public that has suffered injury or property damage as a result of work you’ve done. While this may not seem necessary if you’re a home-based freelancer, it’s worth having even if you rarely work from a client’s office. As well as competitive PL cover, we also offer Employer’s Liability insurance as part of the package. Although PL isn’t a legal requirement, Employer’s Liability (EL) insurance is required by law if you have two or more people working for your company. Our EL cover pays for compensation costs and legal fees if an employee or ex-employee sues for illness or injury caused by their work.

IR35 Tax Investigation & Liabilities Insurance

IR35 Tax Investigation & Liabilities insurance protects you from the potentially devastating effects of a tax investigation carried out by HMRC.

IR35 has been reintroduced to challenge possible avoidance of tax and NI contributions. In particular, HMRC is looking for so-called ‘disguised employees’ who gain and carry out work via partnerships and limited companies. This makes freelancers and contractors prime targets for investigation. Our IR35 Tax Investigation & Liabilities insurance protects you against the often devastating costs of legal fees and any tax liabilities that come as a result of the investigation. We also offer a comprehensive IR35 Contract Review as well as a Working Practices Review to help you be prepared.

IR35 Tax Investigation Insurance

IR35 Tax Investigation insurance protects you from the potentially devastating effects of a tax investigation carried out by HMRC.

If you find yourself being investigated under IR35, HMRC will ask you to prove that you’re NOT an employee. This can mean extensive court fees and loss of work while the investigation is carried out. This is what our IR35 insurance protects against. As part of the policy, you’ll also be provided with a tax and IR35 expert - usually, our Head of Tax, Andy Vessey ATT - as defence should you have to go to trial which could prove pivotal for winning your case.

Contractor Tax & Legal Protection

Our Contractor Tax & Legal Protection insurance has been specially designed for contractors, freelancers and consultants to provide professional representation for both the defence and pursuit of commercial and personal claims, including appeals. The policy reacts by covering the legal costs involved in a case, which can include solicitors and barristers’ fees, court costs, experts’ fees and attendance expenses.

Contractor Personal Accident Insurance

Contractor Personal Accident insurance – often referred to as PA insurance – protects you and your family from financial loss should you sustain an occupational injury.

Whether an accident happens in your home office, commuting to work, or at work, either in the UK or abroad, our contractor PA provides a weekly benefit in the event of temporary total disability or permanent total disability that stops them from working.
